Embracing the Distraction

A lot of schools are moving toward the ‘Bring Your Own Device’’ or ‘1:1’ policies so I’ve decided give my opinion on this type of learning system. I can see where a lot of people may think that students being able to use their phones or tablets in the classroom will just be a distraction from learning. In all reality students are going to have their phone out one way or another so why not embrace it? Why not have them use their phone to research the material they are learning about? By having them use their own device in the classroom, they will be motivated to learn. The BYOD and 1:1 system can make for an efficient way of learning and a great way for students to collaborate in and outside the classroom. In my eyes, this method allows for everyone to stay connected.

Here is a great article on the BYOD policy called: Schools Move Toward 'Bring Your Own Device' Policies to Boost Student Tech Use.
